Advancing research in power conversion systems, electric drives, and renewable energy technologies
The Power Electronics & E-Mobility Laboratory (PEEM) at IIT Madras is dedicated to cutting-edge research in power conversion systems, electric drives, and renewable energy integration. Our work spans fundamental research to applied technology development.
Under the guidance of Dr. Deepak Ronanki, our lab focuses on developing innovative solutions for power electronics challenges in transportation, renewable energy, and industrial applications.
We collaborate with industry partners and research institutions worldwide to advance the state of the art in power electronics and drive technologies.
Advanced power converter topologies, wide bandgap semiconductor devices, and high-frequency magnetic components for efficient power conversion.
Motor drive systems for electric vehicles and industrial applications, including control algorithms and fault-tolerant operations.
Grid integration of renewable energy sources, microgrids, and energy storage systems for sustainable power generation.
Fast charging systems, battery management, and power train optimization for next-generation electric vehicles.
Deepak Ronanki (Senior Member, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, Oshawa, ON, Canada, in 2019.
He is currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of Engineering Design, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, Chennai, India. Before joining IIT Madras, he was an Assistant Professor with the Department of Hydro and Renewable Energy, IIT Roorkee, and with the Department of Energy Science and Engineering, IIT Delhi. His research interests include power conversion systems for renewable energy, electric vehicle powertrains, EV charging infrastructure, and transportation electrification.
Dr. Ronanki has received several awards, including the 2021 IEEE Transportation Electrification Community Best Ph.D. Thesis Award, 2019 IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics Outstanding Reviewer Award, and 2020 UOIT Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award.
