My research focusses on the effect of microscale features on the behaviour of materials. These microscale features could be phases in shape memory alloys, grains in a polycrystalline material, surface energy variations causing changes in the wettability by drops or flow in microchannels and interaction with microsized particles.
In order to study these phenomena, I use modelling techniques which span the various length scales which are of interest in these problems. I use Phase field models, Dissipative Particle Dynamics methods and other discrete element models to study these problems.
