Dr. Suresh Rao
Dr. Suresh Rao is a practising dental surgeon, specialized in Periodontology and Implantology. He did his BDS (1980) and MDS (1984) from Madras Dental College, University of Madras. He became the first dentist in India to complete PhD from CLRI,Chennai (1990). In 2017, he became the first dentist in India to complete DSc from Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai.
Dr. Suresh is the former Dean (2005-2012) of the Faculty of Dental Sciences, Sri Ramachandra University in Chennai. He has 26 years of teaching experience and has mentored 6 PhD and more than 65 masters students. He has delivered 80 national and 2 international guest lectures. He has published more than 90 national and international papers, out of which 8 are with IIT-Madras. He has 2 patents on stem cell with SRU and one on scaffolds with IIT-M.
Dr. Suresh received the first ever international virtual presentation award in the Euro Perio Conference at Vienna, Austria in 2012. His research interests include scaffold, regeneration, stem cells, bio-microfluidics, organ-on-a-chip.
