3D Modeling / CAD Laboratory

Hands-on geometric modeling, mechanical assemblies, and computer-aided design workflows.

This lab is part of the course Geometric Modeling and CAD, formerly called Computer Modeling Lab. Starting from sketching fundamentals, students are taught to create 3D parts and assemble them into complete systems. Modeling software such as Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Fusion 360 are used in this course.

The course also introduces common mechanical joints and couplings used in engineering design, including cotter joints, universal joints, couplings, and machine components such as lathe headstock and tailstock assemblies. More course details are available at https://ed.iitm.ac.in/~raman/cmme.html.
